There’s a shadow side to every path of light, and the spiritual and intuitive industries are no exception.
We’re taught to trust our intuition, to follow what feels aligned, to lean into vulnerability and surrender. But what happens when that trust is exploited? When intuition is twisted into manipulation? When surrender is used to silence?
I’ve seen too many brilliant, sensitive, powerful women give their authority away to someone who seemed more connected, more awakened, and more worthy. I’ve been there, too—seduced by certainty, charisma, or the illusion of fast-track transformation.
This blog isn’t a witch hunt. It’s a wake-up call.
It’s a reminder that:
Discernment is spiritual.
Boundaries are sacred.
Your sovereignty is not negotiable.
"Only I have the codes."
"Your resistance is your trauma speaking—don’t question me."
"This is the only path to your highest self."
"If you leave this container, you’ll undo all your progress."
Sound familiar?
This isn’t divine leadership. It’s dogma wrapped in glitter and incense.
Let’s name it:
Charismatic hierarchy: one person at the top, everyone else seeking approval.
Gaslighting under the guise of 'mirror work.'
Spiritual bypassing: dismissing real harm as ‘just part of your soul’s journey.’
Shaming dissent or questions.
Financial coercion disguised as abundance work.
And when someone finally speaks up? They’re often painted as “unhealed,” “jealous,” or “in their ego.”
No. Sometimes, they’re just calling bullshit.
If a coach, teacher, or “soul guide” claims exclusive access to truth and asks you to bypass your own inner knowing, that’s not empowerment—it’s spiritual control
Because we’re human. Because we want clarity, healing, and guidance. Because we’ve been taught to defer to those who seem more connected or “more spiritual” than us.
Trauma can often weaken our boundaries, especially when we encounter someone who communicates in a way that resonates deeply with us—through heart, intuition, divine timing, and sacred contracts. It sounds like the truth. They have the conviction of telling the truth. It feels like safety.
But when your gut quietly whispers “something’s off”—that’s your real guidance system speaking.
Invites questions and conversation.
Holds space and doesn’t hoard power.
Encourages autonomy, not dependence.
Owns their humanity.
Walks their talk.
Real leadership empowers you to return to yourself—not to become a replica of someone else’s brand of spiritual success.
If you’ve been burned by a spiritual space or mentor, I’m sorry. It’s not your fault—but it is your responsibility to heal, rebuild trust in yourself, and remember:
You are the vessel.
You are the oracle.
You are the magic.
Don’t give your power to anyone who asks you to leave yourself behind to follow them.
This isn’t a takedown of spirituality. It’s a return to truth. Let’s build intuitive communities that are trauma-informed, ethical, and genuinely empowering. Let’s honour our sacred gifts without bypassing our critical thinking. Let’s stop worshipping brands and start trusting ourselves.
And let’s try never again to drink the Kool-Aid.
Not all spiritual leadership is toxic — far from it. True leaders don’t demand worship. They don’t hide behind mysticism to dodge accountability. They invite you closer to your own wisdom, not theirs.
They stand with you in your mess, and model the courage to be human. They say, “I don’t know” when they don’t know. They want you to leave stronger, not more entangled. This is the standard we deserve.
If this resonates — if you’ve glimpsed the same traps and are ready to reclaim your own authority — know this: you don’t have to untangle it alone.
I hold spaces where you can meet your shadow without shame, rebuild trust in your own wisdom, and find your way back to wholeness — at your pace, in your language, in your truth.
Join my next Clear the Fog Circle — a free, safe space to reconnect with your clarity. Or, if you feel ready, book a Soul Session with me to unravel the residue of toxic leadership and stand firmly in your own knowing.
Your clarity is sacred. Let’s protect it, together.
Your Heart's desires are non-negotiable, and your life should not be lived as a compromise."

On Wadawurrung Country, stretching from the Great Dividing Range in the north to the southern coast and from the Werribee River in the east to the Surf Coast in the west, we honour the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our deepest respects to their Elders, past, present, and emerging, and acknowledge their enduring connection to the land, waters, and community. We also celebrate the rich stories, culture, and traditions of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders who live and work on this land.
